Animating a Network

Challenge: Build animated graphics that explain the 4 major concepts in wiring telephones in a house.

Audience: Mostly high school graduates who identify as “hands-on” learners. They will have access to mobile phones but computer access is spotty. Secondary audience is national tech trainers.

Solution: Because the subject is highly technical AND involves alarms and safety, I opted for a facilitated activity accompanied by downloaded videos of the concepts. Used a “Mixed Resolution” approach i.e. phone lines were simplified but phone equipment was realistic. Blender was used to model the equipment, OpenToonz was used to animate and DaVinci Resolve was used for editing and compositing.
